Examination Board: AQA

Examination Board: Edexcel

Examination Board: OCR

Coursework Data (Statistics):
You can take the GCSE in either summer or November. For summer exams (June) contact the examination board in early January, and for November exams contact them in early September. The board will send you details of approved centres where you can take the exam as an external candidate. Contact the examination officer at the centre and arrange with them to take the exam, giving the details below. Be aware there is a separate fee for this payable to the centre.

Note: although the course is suitable for all three examination boards, in our experience AQA is the best examination board for external candidates. From 2008, when you enter for the exam you have the choice of 2 options:

Either:  Syllabus 4301 A (linear or non modular examination) Option X  foundation tier (covers grades C to G)
Or:       Syllabus 4301 A (linear or non modular examination) Option X  higher  tier (covers grades A* to D)

Since most people are looking for a grade C or above the higher tier is usually chosen.
