Where Can I Take the Exam?

Exam Centres and How to Enter for the IGCSE

The following section describes how  to enter for the examination. There is a separate fee for this, payable to the examination centre. You can take the exam in either May or November. Please note it is your responsibility to enter yourself for the examination and to turn up on the times and dates specified.

Unless you have already done so, in order to take the examination you will need to register with an examination centre. You will be entering as an external or private candidate. This means that you attend the centre on the day(s) of the exam only. Be aware that you will need proof of identity, usually in the form a photo id such as a valid driving licence or a passport. The examination centre will give you further details when you contact them.

For UK Based Students

For UK students there are two main providers of the exams for IGCSE Maths. Ed excel and CIE (Cambridge International). Cambridge IGCSE is currently the only IGCSE accredited by Ofqual and funded for state schools in England.

There are a number of Ed excel approved examination centres throughout the UK. Click on the link for further details.

For Non-UK Based Students

If you live or wish to take the IGCSE exam outside of the UK then you need to  go to the CIE web site and click on your region on the world map on the right hand side or use the drop down menu. This will give you contact telephone numbers/emails for your region. Alternatively  contact the British Council via the Flying Colours web site. Click on the link below to open the sites.
